Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated professional to lead the UHB Pulmonary Rehabilitation service in attaining accreditation.

The post holder will provide specialist breadth and depth of skills and knowledge to deliver evidence based Pulmonary Rehabilitation . UHB currently offers 2 pulmonary rehabilitation services, via two teams, Outpatient Respiratory and Solihull Community Respiratory. The post holder’s role will drive the collaboration and alignment of PR offers between teams with a future plan to deliver a single Pulmonary Rehabilitation service for UHB

The successful candidate will have an excellent working knowledge of accreditation standards and current national drivers. Experience of working collaboratively across organizations to facilitate successful partnership/ system level working is essential. The success of the role will be measured against the attainment of the 7 standards of PRSAS. You will be instrumental in facilitating clinical practice and operational process improvement to deliver excellent patient care, while supporting our staff to work as effectively as possible. There will be a focus on quality improvement, productivity and bench marking data against national standards. You will be expected to work closely with the senior management team to support the development and delivery of change, all whilst putting patients at the heart of our improvements

Person specification
Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of general education including GCSE Maths and English at grade at C and above.
  • Master’s degree in relevant subject or equivalent experience demonstrated by ongoing CPD
  • Evidence of commitment to advanced clinical and non clinical professional development within own speciality e.g. post registration competencies and evidence in personal development
  • Appropriate Physiotherapy or Professional qualification e.g. MCSP/BSc or Msc
  • Current professional registration with the HCPC
Experience

Essential

  • Extensive Post registration experience of which significant years have been in an acute NHS organisation
  • Significant experience of clinical/service evaluation
  • Significant experience as a clinical leader including direct clinical supervision of staff
  • Significant experience of education and clinical training of others. Teaching experience to university and multi-professional groups with evidence of ability to deliver high quality presentations
  • Significant experience of clinical/service evaluation
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in the advanced assessment and treatment of a wide range of complex acute and chronic clinical presentations relating to the Respiratory
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Awareness of current evidence in Pulmonary Rehabilitation and its application to clinical practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
  • Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession
  • Significant experience in the development and performance management of physiotherapists and students

Desirable

  • Good understanding of principles of data and statistics and experience of their use in evaluation of service delivery
  • Knowledge and understanding of the research process.
  • Good understanding of IT and its application.
  • Good working knowledge and application of all areas of Clinical Governance including Quality, Audit and Risk management

  • Ability to participate in weekend working, supporting delivery of extended and 7 day Therapy services
  • Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post — holds a UK driving licence and has use of a vehicle for work purposes
