Assistant Accountant – Financial Systems and Services – Band 5

Job Description:

The Assistant Accountant – Financial Systems and Services will work closely with government and NHS stakeholders to manage and support NHS funding distribution and innovative programmes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the improvement of NHS care and patient experiences.

Key responsibilities include supporting the corporate finance systems, maintaining financial controls, and assisting with the change management of new systems like ISFE2 (Oracle Fusion). You’ll also collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including corporate, regional, and ICB systems users, and NHS SBS.

The role requires knowledge of finance systems (e.g., ISFE, Oracle Fusion), finance processes (e.g., accounts payable, general ledger), and experience in working with data analysis tools (e.g., Advanced Excel, Power BI). You will also be responsible for user support, training, and testing systems to ensure they meet NHS standards and operational needs.

Key Skills & Experience:

Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field

Knowledge of finance systems and processes

Experience working in the public sector, particularly within the NHS

Strong communication skills for liaising with finance and non-finance stakeholders

Advanced Excel and Power BI skills
