Job Overview:
The Haematology team at the Royal Free Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Nurse Associate/Assistant Nurse Practitioner to join their team at Band 4. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patient care in the ambulatory service, assisting nurses with a broader range of care-giving responsibilities, improving patient communications, and providing patient-centered care. The role also involves acting as an advocate for patients, identifying and escalating cases where patients show signs of deteriorating health.
Main Duties:
Caring for Patients: You will care for patients in an outpatient setting, performing tasks such as cannulation, venesection (training provided), and taking vital signs.
Clinical Support: Assist in providing basic nursing care and ensuring the department is well-stocked with clinical supplies. You will also support the smooth running of the haematology unit under the supervision of specialist nurses.
Communication & Interaction: You’ll need to communicate effectively with patients and all levels of staff, dealing with both routine and complex problems.
Independent Tasks: Maintain material resources, cleanliness, and hygiene in the department. You will be expected to take initiative and keep the department running efficiently.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE level (C or equivalent).
Previous experience working with the public and/or patients in a healthcare setting.
HCA/Phlebotomy skills.
Experience managing your own workload and prioritizing tasks.
Ability to handle complex or non-routine problems.
Desirable:
Previous customer care experience.
Competency in clinical decision-making and prioritizing care.
