Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 with 2 years post reg experience currently working in the cardiology setting to develop in the area of cardiac rehabilitation. We are looking for a qualified nurse with valid UKCC NMC registration who has a keen interest in cardiac rehabilitation for a 6month secondment. They will work alongside the current team to support the in-patient activity within the cardiology wards, day case and cardiac exercise programme. The post is for 28.5hours/wk (over 3 days) and you must be able to work across Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull Hospital.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
You must be able to demonstrate clinical skills at interview and show continued professional development and involvement of change in your current work setting whilst being organised, have good time management skills and be able to make appropriate clinical decisions.

We provide a comprehensive service and as part of your role you will provide education to patients and their families’ pre discharge, developing an individualised pharmacological and non-pharmacological plan for their Cardiac Rehab and communicate this effectively with primary care, to ensure a seamless service is offered to patients. You will be directly involved and support the wider team of nurses and exercise physiologists in the delivery of the patient programme of health education and exercise supervision and liaise with the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register
  • Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
Experience

Essential

  • Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary NHS care setting (can include student placements within the last 12 months )
  • Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence
  • Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision to others
  • Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
  • Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct
  • Understanding of preceptorship and work based learning and assimilation of skills and knowledge
  • Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context
  • Understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity
  • Awareness of health and safety issues
