Job Overview:
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Band 6 ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join their dynamic, progressive Cardiology team at the Royal Free Hospital. The role involves working autonomously within the Acute Coronary Syndrome team, assessing and managing patients, providing clinical support, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to deliver expert care.
Main Duties:
Patient Management: The CNS will manage patients in the Rapid Access Chest Pain clinic, and work as an expert clinical nurse specialist, providing knowledge, advice, and clinical support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
Clinical Care: Assess patients, coordinate cardiac investigations, interpret results, and create care plans under the supervision of the Lead Consultant for Chest Pain.
Virtual Ward Management: Involved in managing low-risk ACS patients on the ACS Virtual Ward, ensuring monitoring and treatment is provided efficiently.
Multidisciplinary Teamwork: The role requires collaboration within the cardiology multi-disciplinary team (MDT), ensuring effective communication and decision-making for patient care.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
NMC Registered Nurse.
Post-registration education/qualification in cardiology.
Significant post-registration experience in acute hospital settings.
Experience in managing cardiology patients and decision-making in patient care.
Competence in patient assessment and escalation when needed.
Strong communication skills and ability to influence decisions within the healthcare team.
Desirable:
Experience conducting quality audits and coordinating MDT discussions.
Knowledge of clinical governance issues, such as handling complaints and risk management.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
Essential:
Up-to-date knowledge of cardiology care pathways.
Problem-solving, prioritization, and deadline management skills.
Ability to develop collaborative relationships with multi-professional teams.
Enthusiastic, adaptable, and able to work flexibly.
Desirable:
Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management.
Salary:
ยฃ44,806 – ยฃ53,134 per annum (inclusive of HCAS), dependent on experience and qualifications.
