Band 8a Clinical Sonographer

Job Overview:

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is looking for two experienced, full-time Band 8a Clinical Specialist Sonographers for a fixed term of 12 months (maternity leave cover) to provide ultrasound services. The role involves working across multiple departments, including Antenatal, Fetal Medicine, Acute Gynaecology, and Early Pregnancy Units, with some cross-site rotation. You’ll need to have advanced practice in ultrasound, specifically in obstetrics and general medical ultrasound.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform and manage ultrasound services across various departments.

Lead and support a multidisciplinary team, teaching and mentoring students.

Contribute to service delivery with a focus on efficiency and patient safety.

Conduct audits and present findings.

Manage ultrasound-related clinical governance.

Qualifications:

PGDip in medical ultrasound or equivalent (DMU).

HCPC or relevant professional registration.

Significant experience at Band 8a level, including expertise in various ultrasound areas (obstetrics, gynaecology, abdominal, small parts, MSK, breast).

Salary:

£59,490 – £66,239 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of HCAS.
