This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Major Trauma and Acute Rehab Coordinator (RC) team working alongside our existing Physiotherapist RC and MDT.
You will work as part of a defined team coordinating the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) involved in the care of patients requiring acute rehabilitation, following Major Trauma and admission to the Major Trauma Ward Hull Royal Infirmary. Post holder is required to work closely with the Acute Teams Rehabilitation Consultant to coordinate clinical and discharge planning for patients with in Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The maintenance and development of clinical expertise and continuing professional development is essential and will be demonstrated by holding a clinical caseload within the speciality of acute trauma and / or rehabilitation. There will be a requirement to work 1 in 5 weekends in conjunction with Therapy Services.

Main duties of the job
This post will treat am exiting and varied caseload including Orthopaedic polytrauma, Neurosurgical head injuries, chest trauma, silver trauma and discharge planning of patients with complex social circumstances. Post holder will work closely and lead a team alongside the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist for Major Trauma. You will also work closely with the Acute Rehabilitation Coordinator.
Responsibilities include ensuring the completion and submission of Rehabilitation Prescriptions (RP) for complex patients and implementation of the rehabilitation pathway, you will provide expert clinical opinion to patients with complex need in any speciality within the organisation.
Support repatriation from Major Trauma ward to surrounding hospitals and rehab units; undertaking initial assessments and coordinating transfer of patient on to the rehabilitation unit where appropriate. Coordinate the transfer of care for those patients who are repatriated outside of the Trust. You will also work closely with therapists in the organisation and both attend / host MDT meetings.
The post holder is required to act as key worker for patients with specialist rehabilitation needs whilst in the acute phase of care until they transfer to a rehabilitation facility or alternative provider either internal or external to HUTH.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registered
- UK Driving Licence Holder and means of traveling between sites and patients homes
- Degree in Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate education at masters level or equivalent in rehabilitation
- Member of Profession Specific Special Interest Group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of working as Senior or Clinical Lead Therapist in the rehabilitation or associated specialty
- Evidence and understanding of NHS by a minimum of 2 out of the last 5 yrs worked in NHS
- Able to work alone and as part of a team both profession specific and Multi-disciplinary Commitment to CPD
- Able to justify clinical decisions to Medical staff
Desirable criteria
- Lead or particpated in a National/ICB Professional Network or Strategy Group
Skills, Knowledge and Ability
Essential criteria
- Must be literate, numerate and possess good verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage highly complex caseload
- Ability to analyse, select and apply appropriate interventions from a range of modalities
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of involvement or leading National or ICB related working groups related to Rehabilitation

- Ability move across site independently and on occasion travel in the geographical areas with patient related equipment as required
