Clinical Senate Chair Consultant

Job Description:

As the Clinical Senate Chair, the post holder will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the effective delivery of clinical senate activities across a defined geographical area. This involves aligning senate activities with commissioners’ goals to improve patient outcomes and population health. The chair will lead on clinical leadership, engagement, and influence within Senate activities, ensuring that advice and input are integrated into the commissioning process.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the Clinical Senate, providing professional and clinical advice to commissioners.

Communicating the role and value of the Clinical Senate to internal and external stakeholders.

Ensuring the quality of services and advocating for improvements across health and social care systems.

Chairing expert panels and working closely with clinicians and stakeholders to drive initiatives.

Engaging with the wider health and care system, representing the region in complex, politically sensitive situations.

Key Qualifications & Experience:
Essential Qualifications:

Registered with the GMC

Master’s degree or equivalent experience at a senior level in a clinical area

Post Graduate or management qualification

Experience:

Significant experience working in formal clinical networks within the NHS

Strong understanding of integrated models of care across primary, secondary, and tertiary care

Proven track record in delivering major clinical service changes

Experience in senior clinical leadership roles, at or close to Board level

Skills:

Excellent leadership and collaboration skills

Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders

Expertise in managing complex and sensitive situations, particularly in a change management context

Yes, this role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route, provided the Home Office requirements are met (i.e., salary threshold of at least £38,700 per year or the ‘going rate’ for the job).
