At the heart of this strategy is the development of a new secure cloud platform that will support the system in this. The Cloud Engineer will work with and under the direction of the Senior Cloud Engineer and be responsible for the monitoring and management of the platform infrastructure and components to provide a reliable safe and secure environment and support the development of future functions and features.

Responsible for supporting and implementing software engineering practices to build and maintain a secure system wide Azure Environment. Contributing to the architecture and building and deploying new solutions and processes based on internal customer needs.

You will have strong technical skills across a broad subject range, working under the direction of the Senior Cloud Engineer and Head of Department, but being capable of leading on specific projects and developments directly

The role will be hands on dealing with a wide range of cloud-based areas on both a proactive and reactive basis including networking, OS and application patching and maintenance, firewalls, backups, cyber security, performance, and monitoring.

Assist with the resolution of support calls and underlying problem diagnosis as appropriate in line with agreed SLAs or OLAs and be the point of contact for third-party companies involved in the technical development and support of the cloud services.

You will be working in a small team supporting the Integrated Care Board (ICB) but with close collaboration with the Business Intelligence teams and Digital teams together with all our Health and social care partners across Norfolk and Suffolk. and will report in to the ICB Technical & Solutions Architect.

This is an opportunity to be a part of the team at the start of our journey and to help shape, guide and develop our cloud platforms. The work is varied, and will cover a wide variety of skills and technologies. The team now largely work from home with occasional requirements to attend the office, but agile working is available. There are flexible working opportunities.

The role will cover a wide range of skills on a day-to-day basis to support the ongoing platform delivery. Including (but not limited to):

  • Developing Infrastructure as code (including all aspects of a modern cloud environment)
  • Working with, configuring, and automating Azure tools and functions to support monitoring and alerting
  • Managing and monitoring Azure Active Directory users, groups, and permissions
  • Setting up monitoring and alerting from a security perspective.
  • Monitoring and supporting testing of Backups and redundancy functions such as load balancers
  • Scheduling and automation of processes to control costs
  • Troubleshooting issues independently or in conjunction with third parties.
  • Maintaining Documentation

As part of the role, the postholder will be expected to manage multiple areas of work and plan and time manage these effectively to ensure project timelines and agreed deliverables are met.
