The SFU Science Co-op program is dedicated to providing unparalleled career development opportunities to Faculty of Environment, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Health Sciences students. Our primary objective is to facilitate work-integrated learning experiences through co-op placements. We offer comprehensive career services along with individualized coaching to support our students’ personal and professional growth. About the Role
The Co-op Coordinator is a crucial role that guides and supports co-op students in their career and work search, and provides employment coaching during their co-op work terms. The successful candidate will also work closely with employers to create co-op education opportunities. As a Co-op Coordinator, responsibilities include career coaching, curriculum development, facilitating career preparation workshops, evaluating student work term reports, and providing employment guidance to resolve issues or difficulties during work terms.
This role is an essential component of the Science Co-op Program, providing students with valuable co-op experiences aligning with their career aspirations. The Co-op Coordinator collaborates with other team members to develop and maintain employer relationships, deliver career and work search-related workshops, evaluate Co-op services, and create new initiatives and policies.

The Co-op Coordinator position requires an ideal candidate with experience in career counseling, who holds a relevant degree with teaching experience, expertise in curriculum design, and experience within industry. Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, innovation, forward thinking, and exceptional communication skills are essential qualities for the candidate. The candidate should possess natural leadership skills, high self-awareness, and the ability to work effectively within a team. It is crucial for the candidate to have a high level of proficiency in technology and be knowledgeable about the economic trends in the labour market.
