Loganair operates a comprehensive network of scheduled and charter flights around the United Kingdom and Europe. It continues to grow, and it now has around 850 members of staff, in various departments, including, Engineering, Flight Operations, Ground and Customer Services, Safety and Compliance, Commercial, Finance and Operations. We have stations throughout the United Kingdom.
Applications are now welcome for a Communications Manager to join the Marketing Department based in our Glasgow Head Office. Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing and Brand, the Communications manager is responsible for all internal and external communications within Loganair. This includes arranging public relations events and coordinating sponsorship, environmental and charity work.
Overview
The Communications Manager is an advocate of Loganair with strong communication and interpersonal skills. The role is primarily responsible for maintaining and improving the overall image of Loganair to both internal and external stakeholders alike and will help to develop our communication & community engagement strategy including sponsorship and charity work. The Communications Manager will assist the Head of Marketing & Brand to arrange PR events and manage the airlineโs PR agency
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and approving regular communications to be sent out to employees including commercial staff newsletters and company news updates
- Developing Loganairโs tone of voice for PR execution in line with branding and values
- Managing Loganairโs PR agency (BIG Partnership) and liaising closely with Loganairโs Marketing team to create effective external communications & PR campaigns
- Developing and distributing materials that may convey and explain Loganairโs policies, procedures, or conditions and to
- provide thought leadership opportunities for the Leadership Team
- Communicating with customers to generate more business and attending PR and customer-focused events including new route launches & milestone celebrations
- Together with our PR agency, copy-writing media releases, media statements and preparing the Leadership team for any media interviews
- Developing long-term communications strategies
- Provide communications training and advice to Loganair staff who may need it including on crisis communications where you will act a key member of the team
- Co-ordinating all sponsorship and charity work to ensure Loganair is present in local communities including itโs work with Greenskies
- Develop relationships with key media organisations to ensure the continuation of a successful relationship
- Co-ordinate media fam trips to ensure continual education and positive news coverage for underperforming routes & markets
- Generate additional free publicity through creative PR execution
- Keep up to date on industry developments and environmental initiatives to ensure we execute good industry thought leadership in this area
- Ensuring Loganairโs customer communications are acceptable including those on our social and e-commerce platforms
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to make presentations and speak publicly
- Excellent business acumen
- Ability to create well-written media releases and statements
- Knowledge & experience of aviation an advantage but not essential
- Confidentiality is crucial in the role. The role may be privy to sensitive information that must only be used for legitimate purposes and must not be shared to unauthorized parties or those who do not need to be made aware.
Requirements
- 3-5 years operating effectively and successfully as a Media, PR or Communications Manager. In this role, experience is highly regarded.
- May hold a relevant Media Studies undergraduate degree, at least to 2nd class Honours
- May hold a relevant post graduate qualification, for example, Media and Public Relations, Marketing and Branding,
- Business Management, Event Management
