Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities (RNLD) to join our National Deaf CAMHS (NDCAMHS) team. This role will be based with our Newcastle outreach team, providing essential services for deaf children and their families across the North of England. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly specialised and supportive environment, gaining expertise in working with deaf children and applying interventions to improve mental health outcomes.
This role is perfect for those interested in developing their career within the field of mental health nursing, particularly in a setting that serves both the mental health needs and specific communication requirements of deaf children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver a high standard of care to children, young people, and their families within the mental health setting.
Work within a multidisciplinary team that includes interpreters, outreach workers, psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals.
Carry out mental health assessments, plan and deliver interventions, and offer ongoing support to deaf children and their families.
Travel across the Northeast of England as part of the outreach team to deliver services to families in need.
Opportunity to learn British Sign Language (BSL) if no formal qualifications are already held.
Provide excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with the team and external professionals.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential: Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities (RNLD), or equivalent.
Experience working with children and young people within mental health services is essential.
Strong clinical skills, including experience with care planning, mental health risk assessments, and managing safeguarding concerns.
Enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to develop skills, particularly BSL.
Access to own vehicle for travel across the North East and beyond as required.

Part-time position (20 hours per week) with a competitive salary (ยฃ29,970 – ยฃ36,483 per annum, pro-rata).
