Job Overview:

The successful candidate will take on the responsibility of leading and managing initiatives related to the maternity workforce, leadership agenda, and supporting work around maternity policy, strategy, and professional priorities. This role will also involve overseeing the delivery of safe, high-quality, and personalized care across the region. The Deputy Chief Midwife will collaborate with senior staff, managers, and stakeholders to ensure evidence-based maternity care is delivered effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead on key objectives around the maternity workforce and leadership within the Midlands region.

Support programs and initiatives related to maternity policy, strategy, and quality improvement.

Engage with colleagues across the region to provide high-quality, personalized maternity care for all women.

Play an active role in delivering high standards of care, safety, and personalized services in the NHS.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

Essential:

Registered Midwife with evidence of post-qualification professional development.

Educated to Master’s level or equivalent in a relevant field.

Proven leadership experience at a senior level, particularly in delivering transformational change.

Expertise in midwifery, leadership, maternity workforce, and quality improvement.

Desirable:

Experience in strategy and policy development, especially related to midwifery and healthcare.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: ยฃ88,168 – ยฃ101,677 per annum.

Contract Type: Fixed term for 12 months (until 31 October 2025).

Working Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week with flexible working options available.

Visa Sponsorship: Available for eligible candidates through the Skilled Worker route.

Additional Information:

The position is a secondment opportunity for current NHS employees.

Applicants from outside the NHS may be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

NHS England offers visa sponsorship for eligible international applicants under the Skilled Worker route, provided salary and other conditions are met.
