Job Overview:
We are looking for healthcare sustainability professionals to lead the strategic and operational development of the NHS Sustainability and Innovation agenda. This role supports the Chief Nursing Officerโs ambitions and the NHS’s broader plans for achieving a net carbon-zero health system.
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in population and public health, fostering professional and systemic transformations that drive improved practices and outcomes. This includes designing efficient systems of care, implementing innovative methodologies, and leading decarbonisation strategies.
Main Duties of the Job:
Provide national nursing and midwifery leadership to achieve NHS net-zero objectives.
Design and implement nursing and midwifery-specific climate-smart pathways.
Lead the National Nursing and Midwifery Net Zero Clinical Transformation Exemplar Programme.
Develop a Sustainability Hub and Repository of Best Practices.
Build expertise in quality improvement and sustainability science within nursing and midwifery programmes.
Foster partnerships with Greener NHS and other relevant organisations to promote sustainability initiatives.
Drive integrated innovation and entrepreneurship strategies for nursing and midwifery.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
Essential Experience:
Proven senior management experience within NHS operational or clinical settings.
Understanding of current healthcare policies and planetary health implications.
Essential Skills:
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to lead professional and systemic transformations.
