Job Overview:
The Head of Healthcare Innovation and Research will lead the Innovation Hub team in NHS England’s New Hospitals Programme, focusing on horizon scanning, evidence development, and strategic collaboration with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and Think Tanks. The role will involve working with national and international experts to shape the direction of healthcare innovation, ensuring regional and national stakeholders actively participate in this evolving field.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and delivery of strategic and operational plans within the department.
Formulate and ensure understanding of strategy among stakeholders, making efficient use of available resources.
Manage the implementation of strategic plans in new organizations, proactively addressing risks and issues.
Monitor the progress of strategic objectives and ensure completion within timelines.
Oversee budgetary implications and promote key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s level education or equivalent senior clinical and operational experience.
Clinical professional registration.
Extensive experience at a senior level within an acute hospital setting, ideally at Deputy Director or Board level.
Experience in a leadership role within a hospital build program or large-scale government initiative.
Proven ability to solve complex problems in healthcare environments and present solutions to diverse groups of stakeholders.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong relationship builder with the ability to influence stakeholders across complex healthcare and government environments.
Capable of creating and implementing strategies with an inclusive leadership style.
