Overview:
The Information Governance Officer will support the Privacy, Transparency & Trust (PTT) Sub-directorate within NHS England. This role is vital for promoting public trust in NHS England’s handling of staff and patient data, ensuring compliance with data protection laws, and enhancing organizational performance through effective information governance practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and support key information governance documents, including policies, procedures, and privacy notices.
Provide timely and practical IG advice on various projects and services, emphasizing privacy by design.
Communicate IG issues and raise awareness across the organization, engaging with non-specialist colleagues.
Conduct IG-related research and collaborate across teams to improve service delivery and outcomes.
Analyze information and assist in producing compliance reports and key performance information.
Qualifications:
Essential: Graduate level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject; experience in an information governance role; knowledge of data protection laws (UK GDPR, DPA 2018, etc.).
Desirable: Post-Graduate degree or relevant IG accreditation (e.g., BCS, ISEB); qualifications in project management or technology.
Experience:
Experience in identifying compliance and operational risks; working collaboratively across functions; fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellent service delivery.
