Industrial Engineer Job Description:

Overall Responsibility:

Leads in program & equipment implementation activities, continuous improvement initiatives and providing technical support to operations.

Accountabilities:

  • Leads in planning, costing, design, procurement, scheduling and implementation of engineering projects.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement project(s), which would include: analysis of cycle time, scrap reduction, and equipment and material handling optimization.
  • Interaction with all departments for all relevant APQP requirements.
  • Develop and maintain E.C.R. E.C.N. process.
  • Develop and maintain part print and packaging drawings.
  • Maintain Plant Layout and material flow documentation.
  • Perform and document Risk Assessments for all new & modified processes and equipment.
  • Provide training and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure the transfer of knowledge to others.
  • Provide support, recommendations and trouble shooting skills for production associates, maintenance staff and existing processes.
  • Maintain Laser Safety program including annual audits and training.
  • Maintain Contractor Management program.
  • Support Quality Department through participation in PDCA root cause analysis.
  • Supports in a blanking die design process and closure of open issue issues at supplier

 

Skills, Requirements, and Personal Traits:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineer – Preferably Mechanical or Industrial
  • 4+ years of Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering experience within the Automotive Sector
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in AutoCAD & 3D Software
  • Personal Skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proactive in learning and development activities
  • Proven ability to work with and develop people
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Detail oriented
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills
  • Advanced organizational and planning skills
  • Working knowledge of FMEA’s
  • Fulfill the Health, Safety & Environmental responsibilities identified in the Canadian HSE Management Standards and OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 Management Systems.
  • Fulfill the Quality Management System responsibilities identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbooks.
  • Perform any other reasonable assignments given by Management.
