Job Overview:
The NHS East of England regional team is seeking a Medical Director for Primary Care to provide clinical and professional leadership within primary care, focusing on improving clinical care and outcomes, especially in general practice. This senior role will involve working alongside regional and national teams, supporting the delivery of Integrated Care Systems, and offering clinical leadership across the primary care sector.
This is a 0.6 WTE position (part-time, 22.5 hours per week), where the post-holder will also maintain a regular clinical commitment. The role offers significant opportunities for leadership within the primary care landscape.
Main Responsibilities:
Lead efforts to improve primary care services, particularly within Integrated Care Systems and primary care networks.
Offer clinical leadership and support to regional primary care teams, enhancing collaboration with key stakeholders.
Manage complex situations with external stakeholders, applying negotiation and communication skills.
Support the Regional Medical Director and national leadership in the strategic development of primary care systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
Registered practicing Primary Care clinician with an in-depth understanding of current health and social care policies.
Significant experience in supporting primary care networks (PCNs) and enhancing clinical practices.
Proven ability to work collaboratively, managing competing demands, and influencing key decision-makers.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong analytical skills to assess complex issues from diverse sources.
Demonstrable ability to plan and manage projects across short-, medium-, and long-term timeframes.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams effectively.
Salary:
ยฃ135,000 per annum (pro-rata)
Salary Currency: GBP
Salary Unit: Yearly
Visa Sponsorship:
Yes, sponsorship available for eligible candidates meeting the Home Office salary requirements (minimum ยฃ38,700 per annum or higher based on the job’s “going rate”).
