Position Overview:

University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) invites applications for a substantive Joint Neonatal and Neonatal Transport Consultant role at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital (BHH) and KIDS Neonatal Transport Service (NTS), a specialized regional service hosted by Birmingham Womenโ€™s and Childrenโ€™s Hospital. This is a full-time 10 PA post (50% at BHH NICU and 50% with KIDS NTS), with the contract starting on 9th January 2025.

Responsibilities:

The consultant will be based primarily at BHH but will also support KIDS NTS, providing neonatal intensive care and transport services. Duties include daytime and on-call shifts, outpatient clinics, and covering NICU. Key tasks involve coordination of transport services, decision support, and bedside attendance based on patient needs. The role has a frequency of 1:9 on-call at BHH and 1:6 rota at KIDS NTS.

Qualifications & Skills:

MBBS and MRCPCH (or equivalent).

Proven experience in neonatal transport.

Desirable skills include a subspecialty interest in echocardiography or cardiology.
