Position Summary
Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed permanent part time Nursing Unit Clerk to support the General Medical Clinic department.
In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and working under general supervision, the Nursing Unit Assistant performs a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a patient/resident care area such as acting as a communication link for the Unit by transcribing and processing physiciansโ orders, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating patient/resident appointments, arranging patient/resident tests and receiving results, receiving and directing visitors, telephone answering, assembling/maintaining patient/resident charts and performing keyboarding and data entry responsibilities.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work:ย Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week, Days – 08:00 to 16:00
- Dawson Creek & District Hospitalย Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 Acute Care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Dawson Creek is the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical centre for the Northeast Region of BC.Services include:

- Day Surgery
- Respiratory Therapy
- Primary Care
- Acute Care
- Diagnostic Imaging
- Laboratory
- Visiting specialists including:
- Urology

Dawson Creek Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000. Qualifications
Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities:- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard 50 w.p.m.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
