JOB SUMMARY
- Work with the Homecare Pharmacist and Senior Pharmacy Technician for Homecare and High-Cost Medicines and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver a quality homecare service.
- To provide a variety of pharmacy support duties to the dispensary involving labelling, assembling, preparing and dispensing medicines, stock control, dispensing of controlled drugs and receipt of prescriptions.
- Ensure the timely and efficient delivery of requests for pharmaceutical products across the Trust by dispensing and issuing for prescriptions, signed orders and controlled drugs orders.
- Always ensure patient confidentiality
- Participate in the dispensary rota and provide cover during busy times where appropriate.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE Maths and English (grade C or above) or equivalent.
- National BTEC or NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent).
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- National Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification or be willing and eligible to undertake National Accredited Checking
- Technician (ACT) qualification
Desirable
- Team leading or management qualification.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working as a pharmacy technician or pre-registration pharmacy technician in primary, secondary or community pharmacy
- Computer literate and able to use Windows applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, and internet.
- Experience of liaising with patients and healthcare staff
Desirable
- Recent and in-depth post qualification experience of working within a hospital pharmacy department as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience of multidisciplinary and/or collaborative working.
- Experience of working in secondary care either as Clinical Pharmacy Technician, Homecare or Procurement Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience of working with a Pharmacy computer system e.g. CMM or EMIS, and procurement systems such as Powergate.
- Experience of dealing with difficult and complex situations, queries and complaints
- Experience in training others.
- Experience of supervising or line managing staff.
- Experience of negotiating with healthcare staff, suppliers and/or external organisations.
- Experience of writing / updating procedures and training documentation
- Experience of managing Pharmacy stock control systems
