Job Overview

The Policy Advisor role offers a unique opportunity to lead on clinical policy and strategy for children and young people in alignment with the NHS Long Term Plan and the Children and Young Peopleโ€™s Transformation Programme.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the National Clinical Director for Children and Young People to develop policies on asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, and transitions to adulthood.

Deliver high-quality briefings, policy documents, and presentations for senior officials.

Support the integration of services for children and young people across health and care systems.

Manage and mentor staff to achieve team objectives.

Conduct research and gather evidence to support policy development.

Represent NHS England in communicating policies to external stakeholders and supporting accountability to the Department of Health and Parliament.

Work with commissioners and clinical experts to implement strategies and meet evolving needs.

This full-time position (37.5 hours/week) is available as one permanent and one secondment/fixed-term contract. Flexible and hybrid working options are supported where service delivery allows.

Applicants should have experience in shaping national policy, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead and inspire a team. This role also involves working with vulnerable populations, necessitating a DBS check.
