Job Overview:
NHS England is seeking a dedicated and experienced Training Programme Director (TPD) for Core Psychiatry in the West Midlands (CT1 level). This role is ideal for an experienced educational supervisor aiming to enhance their educational portfolio. It offers the opportunity to work part-time in a flexible, supportive environment, with a focus on developing doctors committed to high standards of patient-centered care and lifelong professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Head of School and other stakeholders to produce well-rounded doctors ready for the highest standards of care.
Maintain clinical practice while fulfilling the TPD role.
Support and guide doctors in training, fostering a professional and compassionate approach.
Engage in ongoing evaluation and improvement of the training program to ensure excellence.
Qualifications:
Primary clinical healthcare qualification
Consultant-level experience in psychiatry or equivalent specialty
Membership/Fellowship with a relevant College, Faculty, or professional association
Active clinical role in the specialty with a License to Practise
Experience:
Significant experience in training or supporting doctors within an educational setting
Proven leadership in clinical and educational environments, with experience managing a multi-professional team
Background in recruitment, selection, appraisal processes, and equality & diversity training
Skills and Attributes:
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to innovate and problem-solve within the educational framework
Commitment to professional development and a collaborative work style
