An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lead Nurse to join our multi-disciplinary Occupational Health and Wellbeing service at CUH NHS Foundation Trust.

The Occupational Health Senior Lead Nurse will be an active member of the OH senior leadership team and will provide professional guidance, leadership and direction to the OH nursing team. You will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of the nursing workforce, guaranteeing provision of high quality evidence based nursing practice, and will play a pivotal role in successfully delivering on our key strategic priorities, physical health, psychological health and screening, surveillance and vaccination.

You will be a strong clinical leader, highly visible and accessible to service users. You will have a particular responsibility to support the developments of Clinical Governance (including SEQOHS), be the Clinical Lead for IT systems and Service Improvement, to modernise services and ensure the active involvement of service users and partners in the way Occupational Health services are developed, delivered and evaluated.

Part-time (minimum of 30 hours/week over four days) or job share opportunities may be considered.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse
  • Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health (OH) or equivalent or working towards
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills
  • Management/leadership skills qualification, training and/or development

Desirable criteria

  • Non-medical prescriber
  • OH research module
  • Advanced communication skills or counselling qualification
  • Masterโ€™s degree in OH or other relevant discipline e.g. public health or willingness to work towards
  • Teaching and coaching/mentoring qualification
Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant clinical experience as a nurse specialist in the OH speciality (including case management, vaccination programmes, triaging referrals and health surveillance)
  • Recognised as an expert in the field of practice with the ability to clinically assess and diagnose.
  • Line management including recruitment and selection, induction, continuing professional development and performance management
  • Operational service management including developing, monitoring and reporting on activity targets and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Risk management
  • Understanding of clinical governance and management of complaints and investigations
  • Sound knowledge of relevant OH and staff health and safety legislation
  • Experience in project management
  • Evidence of leading service change.
  • Managing resources

Desirable criteria

  • Practical experience of policy and process development
  • Audit or research experience
  • Experience of Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) standards and accreditation processes
  • Broad range of OH experience both within an NHS OH setting and/or the private sector

  • Experience of leading staff health and wellbeing initiatives
