Software Developer – Geospatial Health & Development
Full TimeBookmark Details
The Opportunity
It is a very exciting time at The Kids Research Institute Australia as we continue to evolve from what began in the 1980โs as a vision to create a world-class child health research hub. We have recently changed our name from the Telethon Kids Institute, but we continue to achieve our vision of happy, healthy kids!
The Geospatial Health and Development Team uses cutting-edge technologies to understand the health and wellbeing of children across different geographies. We develop and apply advanced geospatial methods to analyse large, complex datasets. Our research identifies hotspots of health risk, tracks changes over time, and explores underlying factors driving health outcomes. Our findings support targeted interventions, enabling public health efforts to focus on areas with the greatest need and impact.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Developer to join our Geospatial Health and Development Team. Youโll collaborate with other software developers and researchers to design, develop, and implement software tools for geospatial data analysis and visualisation. Your work will directly support innovative research aimed at improving child health and wellbeing, with the potential to influence public health interventions and policies.
Your responsibilities will include:
Develop and maintain software applications for geospatial data processing, analysis and visualization.
Work closely with team members to design and implement scalable, efficient solutions to support large-scale geospatial analysis.
Collaborate with data scientists to optimize and implement complex statistical models, spatial algorithms and machine learning workflows.
Design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for accessing and visualizing spatial health data.
Document code, develop best practices and ensure the reusability and scalability of software products.
This is a full-time position based at Perth Childrenโs Hospital for a two-year period.
