Job description
The ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre at Cardiff Metropolitan University provides food businesses with technical, operational and commercial support to enable them to compete more effectively. ZERO2FIVE employs experienced food and drink technologists, business specialists and senior lecturers and professors. Collectively, this team specialise in all aspects of food and drink processing, manufacturing, operational and technical issues. ZERO2FIVE is able to draw on expertise within Cardiff Metropolitan University which includes internationally recognised experts in food science, nutrition, dietetics, food legislation, environmental health, trading standards, new product development and biomedical sciences. Our team of internationally recognised food industry experts are available to assist our clients across a variety of food disciplines including baking, dairy and meat technologies, hygiene management, packaging design, technical management systems and new product development. The business team can provide marketing, market analysis, new product development, financial and trade engagement support. We can also assist companies in sourcing funding, a major stumbling block in the development of many businesses. The state-of-the-art facilities within ZERO2FIVE are available for use by businesses and schools. These include a consumer sensory suite, 4 pilot sized plants, a development kitchen and a consumer research kitchen.
The opportunity
The role involves working closely with the Technical delivery team at the Food Industry Centre, to ensure that robust organisational systems and procedures are in place to support stakeholders, partner agencies and project participants, whilst supporting the Technical requirements of the Centre, including project activity to University and Welsh Government auditable standards.
What youโll do โ key duties
Provide administrative support to aid the development and delivery of FIC Technical and Innovation team activities and enable the team to deliver a professional and efficient service.
Manage and organise technical meetings and co-ordinate training workshops & sensory panels providing administrative support prior, during and post events including resources and room bookings for technical delivery team activity to ensure clients receive excellent and professional service.
Provide project administrative support to the Technical delivery team to ensure confidential project documentation and timely completion of project packs facilitating links with all relevant parties.
Liaise and communicate with the Business Operations Team for ordering of consumables and ingredients and other procured materials required by the technical delivery team to ensure projects can be delivered to expected deadlines.
Facilitate and maintain the digitisation, archive and curation of confidential project paperwork and technical library to improve use and efficiencies in the department.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels and the development of appropriate communication links with the Universityโs Schools / Directorates and external stakeholders as required.

- Experience of developing, updating and maintaining databases and confidential information.
- Experience of working within small and large businesses, in the public and private sector.
- Team working skills and the ability to work as a member of a multi-professional team.
- Ability to solve problems using initiative and creativity; identify and propose practical solutions where there are a range of potential options available.
- Ability to competently input and manipulate data into computerised databases and systems
