Trainee Site Manager

Primary Purpose

The purpose of this role is for inexperienced Supervisor to gain on the job experience and training supervising the construction of new homes with the supervision of the construction manager

Key Result Area
Measure
Construction Supervision

  • Undergo training manuals for the Career Builder Site Supervisor Training program which will provide guidance on the following tasks. Requirement to successfully complete training modules within specified time
  • Check construction files prior to going to site to ensure all documents are complete and accurate
  • Negotiate with sub-contractors and coordinate their presence on sites
  • Interpret building plans, regulations, and codes of practice in order to direct the progress of work and monitor compliance with construction documents
  • Schedule the coordination of building workers on site
  • Arrange supplies of material and equipment and verify delivery
  • Report to management on onsite activity
  • Maintain and update click home
  • Complete quality assurance inspections
  • Monitor and control ETS spending
  • Maintain company vehicles and equipment in compliance with Burbank policies and procedures
  • Maintain safe working practices

Communication

  • Ensure regular, consistent, informative and relevant communication with Construction Manager and other construction supervisors as required
  • Participate and communicate effectively with onsite Trainers
  • Provide clear and concise direction to suppliers and on-site trades

Judgment and Decision Making

  • In conjunction with the Construction Manager, apply sound judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills to identify and resolve problems throughout the construction process

Key Relationships

  • Develop a productive working relationship with contractors and suppliers
  • Liaise with other New Home Coordinators, Building Supervisors and the Construction Manager as required

Typical Qualifications and Personal Qualities

  • Tertiary qualifications in building and construction, together with a working knowledge of the Residential Building Industry.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of relevant Occupational Health and Safety Legislation within the Residential Building Industry.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and resolution skills.
  • Current and valid Driver’s licence essential
