Job Overview:

The Training Programme Director (TPD) for Nuclear Medicine will work with the Postgraduate Dean to manage and oversee the delivery of training within the specialty of Nuclear Medicine. This role requires leadership in ensuring high-quality education and training for medical professionals, aligned with NHS England’s mandates. The position is part-time, with 0.25 sessions per week, and is based at Victoria House, Fulbourn.

Key Responsibilities:

Education & Training Quality:

Promote the development of a quality learning environment for all learners.

Support the Postgraduate Deans in meeting NHSE statutory requirements for medical education.

Focus on teamwork, human factors, and clinical skills training, where applicable.

Patient Safety & Healthcare Quality Improvement:

Develop and implement processes that improve patient safety and workforce quality.

Support clinical skills training and simulation for healthcare professionals.

School Programme Management:

Oversee and manage the Regional Training Programme for Nuclear Medicine.

Provide guidance on recruitment, progression, assessments, rotations, and support for trainees.

Ensure efficient communication between the Specialty Training Committee and the School Board.

Educational & Workforce Development:

Advise on the professional development of educational faculty.

Identify learning needs and provide resources for faculty and trainees.

Promote shared learning opportunities across different healthcare professionals.

Strategic Workforce Development:

Contribute to workforce planning and educational program development.

Advise on workforce commissioning and decommissioning.

Help implement alternative workforce solutions.

Finance Management:

Engage with business planning processes, school budgets, and procurement requirements.

Ensure compliance with financial guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

Essential:

Primary clinical healthcare qualification.

Membership or Fellowship in a relevant medical college or professional body.

Considerable experience in clinical and educational leadership, working with learners or doctors in training.

Desirable:

Postgraduate qualification in medical education (e.g., a postgraduate certificate, diploma, or masterโ€™s).

Previous experience in a leadership role within healthcare education.

Understanding of healthcare and education policy, as well as funding streams for medical education.

Skills & Abilities:
Essential:

Demonstrable leadership skills and ability to motivate teams.

Ability to quickly build credibility with key stakeholders.

Strong commitment to personal development and supporting others in their professional growth.

Desirable:

Ability to establish academic credibility quickly.

Knowledge of healthcare education and regulatory frameworks.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary: ยฃ10,000 per annum, ยฃ10,000 per session

Contract Type: Secondment (3-year tenure)

Hours: Part-time (0.25 sessions per week)
