Transport for London (TfL) is a local government agency that manages London’s public transport network and major roads:

Transportation

TfL manages the day-to-day operations of London’s public transport network, including:Buses
London Underground
Docklands Light Railway
London Overground
London Trams
London River Services
Victoria Coach Station

Roads

TfL manages London’s roads, including the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN), which includes key routes like the A40 and A406. TfL also operates all of London’s 6,300 traffic lights.

Other services

TfL regulates taxis and the private hire trade, runs the congestion charge scheme, and operates Santander Cycles and the Emirates Air Line.

TfL was established in 2000 and is the successor organization to the London Passenger Transport Board, which was established in 1933. TfL is directed by a management board appointed by the Mayor of London.
