Cyber Security Specialist – what’s involved in the role?
The Cyber Security Specialist is an integral part of the Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) team, providing ICT support, and security practices and procedures across the organisation. A critical part of your role is to ensure access to ICT-managed systems is authorized, registered, and controlled to prevent accidental and malicious damage to data and ICT infrastructure, performing regular audits and investigations and reporting on outcomes.
This new opportunity is available on a permanent full-time basis (Monday to Friday), with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements that include working at our Maroochydore office on the beautiful Sunshine Coast and from home.
More about the role:
Reporting to General Manager ICT, your role will include:
Defining, designing, and developing security standards and controls
Security administration, monitoring and reporting
Administering contemporary internet and cloud data security protocols, standards, and practices
Providing indepth analysis of complex problems, managin risk, and providing timely and accurate decisions
Development of ICT processes and controls applying an understanding of risk and control frameworks such as ISO, NIST, ITIL, PCI
Maintaining ISO accreditation, following our planned attainment of this in July
Coordination of ICT security incdent response and reporting for events or exploited vulnerabilities including unauthorised system or network access, denial of service, inappropriate data access, data corruption, and/or collection of private or confidential information
Monitoring of security incidents and conducting complex investigations, including preparation of written findings, recommendations and follow up evaluation, and analysis of patterns or trends
Developing and managing the frameworks, processes, tools and consultancy necessary for ICT to properly manage risk and to make risk-based decisions related to ICT activities
Providing ICT helpdesk support to the organisation.
What you will bring to our team:
As someone who has a strong technical aptitude and passion for continuously improving the cyber security culture and resources of an organisation, you enjoy working in a small, dynamic, and agile ICT team where your contribution is valued. You will also possess:
Significant experience in ICT Security or Cybersecurity
Experience with network administration
Experience with Microsoft Security Applications (Defender, Sentinel, Intune)
Experience with Linux and Windows
General knowledge of informaiton security regulatory requirements and standards such as ISO 27001, Essential Eight and NIST
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) to liaise and collaborate with a range of stakeholders, and document policies and procedures
Strong analytical and organisational skills
Desired but not essential qualifications including CISSO, CISSP or CISM, and a BA degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics.
