Description of Work

The position provides technical leadership and management for DHHS IT customer voice and data networks. The position requires experience managing a networked environment, a high degree of customer service, teamwork, effective communications, talent development, organizational awareness, business management, and technical leadership. The employee should have experience in networking tools and techniques and must have experience in direct client contact. The position participates in the development of solutions using networking expertise for day-to-day problems to include maintenance, modification, or development of complex inter-related network solutions. Solutions link technical knowledge with business, research and/or instructional solutions and may range from consulting services to developing integrated systems.

The position may be reassigned as necessary to support the department’s critical needs and changing priorities. On call, travel, and overtime may be required dependent on client needs.

Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Documented knowledge of data communication hardware capabilities, a variety of computer hardware and software and communication protocol, software, and network architecture.
  • Background knowledge of software design and modifications.
  • Cited experience tracking operational metrics (including trends over time) and identifying process and service improvement opportunities while adhering to department/division standard operations and policies.
  • Demonstrated skill ensuring infrastructure (networks, datacenters, servers, and storage) incidents and problems are resolved in a timely and effective manner, root causes are analyzed to reduce frequency, minimal disruption to business operations, and adherence to SLAs on availability and resolution response times.
  • Documented background maintaining working relationships with internal and external vendors and team members
  • Demonstrated participation in multiple projects simultaneously such as refresh and consolidation strategies that include infrastructure technology updates and rollouts.

Management preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Experience successfully directing the work of others and leading a team to successful project completion.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in telecommunications network management, analysis, or design
OR
Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of progressive experience in telecommunications network management, analysis, or design;
OR
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and eight years of progressive experience in telecommunications network management, analysis, or design;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
