As a Financial Reporting Consultant, you will provide consulting on corporate financial policies and proactively help in the preparation of The City’s annual report process and other internal financial reports as well as complete research and analysis related to proposed transactions. Primary duties include:
  • Prepare, coordinate and develop reports and analysis to ensure the continued integrity of The City’s financial statement and reporting processes.
  • Develop, plan, coordinate and lead corporate financial policy development/studies and implementation.
  • Review financial statement packages for compliance with regulatory requirements and consistency with corporate policies.
  • Analyze corporate reports for accuracy and coordinate required changes with internal business units and information technology.
  • Analyze and comment on policy implications and requirements related to annual financial results.
  • Review existing and potential financial policies of other municipalities, governments, and not-for-profit and private sector organizations that may be of interest to The City.
  • Identify benchmarks and provide recommendations on best practices and policy changes.
Qualifications
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and a least 5 years of related experience, preferably in a mid-size to large CPA environment in the audit/review stream.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel are required.
  • Familiarity with a large enterprise accounting system such as PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain Management (FSCM) is considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to applicants familiar with Public Sector Accounting Standards Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Exceptional technical skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to direct and work effectively with others who are not direct reports.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail; the ability to plan, coordinate and manage conflicting priorities; and well-developed communication skills in order to deliver presentations.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Compensation: Pay Grade 13 $46.38 – 62.06 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
