BDO’s Market Intelligence practice and its services are designed to listen, analyze, and package objective market data and client insightâ”across a number of key industries and macroeconomic trendsâ”to complement BDO’s business strategy, pursuit and delivery efforts.


Role Description

Based in the GTA, the role of the Market Research & Data Analyst is to provide leadership in the delivery of strategic insights into industry and macroeconomic trends in the Canadian economy and ultimately lead and/or support the development and design of communication solutions (i.e. data visualizations) to enhance research deliverables.


Working with a direct team of like-minded research specialists and creative talent, you’ll have access to resources to support the production and creation of marketing artifacts to enhance your research deliverables. In addition, you’ll also be working with a world-class team of Partners and Sr. Leaders who bring a breadth of knowledge and insight that will guide and support efforts within our Market Research programs.


The Senior Market Research Analyst reports into the Market Intelligence Lead.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities


  • Strong ability to identify gaps and gather research to support business activities
  • Great understanding of the Canadian market and an ability to recognize industry and macro-economic trends
  • Leverage data to develop insights and reports that can be broken down by sectors (i.e. banking, education, power generation) and market segments (i.e. small business, mid-market, enterprise)
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Support the development of market-related applications and tools through research programs
  • Engage in innovation programs that help identify new opportunities and solutions
  • Build and refine a wide range of engaging and consistent communications artifacts
  • Liaison with and support national marketing relationship across key projects
  • Able to meet and exceed project commitments, always keeping internal stakeholders informed of projects and progress
  • Review and proofread artifacts to produce accurate and high-quality work
  • Ability to grasp the substance of business issues being communicated and clarify audience understanding
  • A team player who demonstrates initiative and coordination proficiencies
  • Synchronize and brainstorm with others at various levels in the organization in a strategic manner

Your experience and education

  • 2+ years’ experience in a research environment (Market Research certifications are a value-add)
  • Strong quantitative research, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, can tell a story with and through data
  • Skilled and proficient with one or more data analysis (Python, R, Excel, etc.) and data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a strong client service orientation
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, self-directed & possess a driven personality capable of working within tight deadlines
  • Solid interpersonal skills, coaching skills, collaboration and proven ability to influence across organizational boundaries
  • Success-driven, works well in a diverse team and enjoy a dynamic and changing environment
  • French language skills are an asset but not required
