Reporting to the Coordinator of Parking Operations, the Projects Engineer will plan and execute capital projects and contract administration for the Calgary Parking (CP) assets. In this role, you will assist in developing the capital budget program for the CP. You will also create and implement the CP capital plan and works within the approved 5-year capital plan and budget. Primary duties include:
  • Manage and coordinate project teams, engineers, technologists, consultants, other City business units, and external agencies.
  • Develop capital program and Asset Management Strategy for CP Assets.
  • Set capital budgets for all CP Asset improvement projects, including new facilities that serve CP parking operations, such as the ILot reconfiguration project.
  • Serve as a Responsible Member of the Association of Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) for the Parking Operations division.
  • Provide technical expertise to other CP departments and City Business Units.
  • Work closely with facilities and maintenance within the Parking Operations division to provide recommendations and feedback on day-to-day building operations, including infrastructure-related matters.
  • Research and evaluate new methods, processes, and technologies related to parking operation/infrastructure, focusing on future needs.
  • Collaborate with consultants and contractors to ensure projects are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or licensure by the first day of work.
  • At least 1 year of related experience, preferably in design, maintenance, construction, asset, and project management.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle for business use are required.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management and software like Microsoft Project would be an asset.
  • Technical knowledge with a strong understanding of engineering principles will be given preference.
  • Success in this position requires strong abilities in technical analysis, tendering and administrating projects, strategic and critical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail and accuracy, risk assessment, independent decision-making, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, change management, and customer focus.
