Whether it’s driving connecting health, helping the nation, transforming experiences or building the career you want – we give you the support to do it all. Join our journey. It starts with you.

As a Backend-Focused Full Stack Developer specializing in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Java, your primary responsibility will be tackling complex problems and finding innovative solutions. You’ll excel in a collaborative and agile environment, working closely with a team of developers as we transform the Technology function at Nuffield Health.

Your expertise in developing resilient Java applications, particularly within Java-based content management systems, is crucial. While we are currently using Brightspot, an open-source Java-based CMS, we are actively transitioning to Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).

Initially, your main focus will be on the migration effort, dedicating your attention to ensuring a smooth transition. As the migration progresses, you will gradually shift your focus toward developing backend functionality that will drive our e-commerce experiences implementing restful APIs of our strategic vendor CommerceTools.

Your role as a Full Stack Developer extends beyond backend application development; your proficiency and passion for modern web technologies are vital. You will be crucial in improving the user experience, driving the migration to AEM, and fostering collaboration within an agile framework. It’s worth noting that our technology stack also includes Ruby on Rails for other backend development needs and JavaScript (React and Handlebars frameworks) in the front end. Any understanding or experience working with MACH and distributed architectures is beneficial.

As our Senior Full Stack Developer, you should be:
Proficient in web application development using Java, JavaScript, and AEM.

Experienced in working with AEM 6. x or previous Adobe CQ versions in a commercial setting.

Skilled in implementing Templates, Components, Dialogs, and workflow in AEM.

Experienced with AEM cloud infrastructure and multi-deployment scenarios.

Familiar with AEM’s underlying technologies, including Apache Sling, OSGi, Java Servlets, JSP, Apache Felix, Java Content Repository (JCR), Apache Jackrabbit, CRXDE, etc.

Familiar with microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

Experienced with monitoring, profiling, and observability tools to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and any application issues. Experience with New Relic is particularly beneficial.

Proficient in utilizing source control, build, and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Maven, and Adobe Cloud Manager.

Competent in writing and executing various types of tests, including regression, unit, and integration tests.

Familiar with security best practices and ability to implement secure coding principles.

Able to take responsibility for identifying and reducing technical debt while designing, documenting, developing, and testing responsive, accessible, secure, and standards-driven digital services that cater to user needs.

Experienced with and knowledgeable of Agile and Scrum.

Collaborative and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Architects, Developers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Content Editors, QA/Test Analysts, Business Analysts, and UX designers in agile squads.

Capable of providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers.

Nice to haves and preferred experience:
Knowledge of and experience with Ruby on Rails

Knowledge of and experience with commerce tools

Knowledgeable and experienced in building headless content management solutions.

Knowledgeable about usability, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility issues.

Experience integrating Adobe Analytics/Google Analytics with AEM

Formal AEM training or certification(s)
