About the Role
As the Senior Market Modelling Analyst you will be responsible for development and operation of sophisticated models and tools to support AGL’s Wholesale Markets and other stakeholders, as well as providing leadership and mentoring to the more junior members of the team. You will be involved in modelling of supply and demand, pricing and mid to long term strategies across all fuels and domains that we operate in. You will be responsible for research, synthesis and communication with stakeholders to provide the analytical rigor and support for strategic decisions.
What you’ll be doing
  • Provide mentoring across the Market Modelling team
  • Develop, maintain and operate sophisticated models and analysis tools, including quantification of the fundamental inputs in each market and AGL’s place in the market
  • Identify and assist in developing opportunities for growth in the portfolio by providing high quality market modelling
  • Research and communicate wider market events to relevant stakeholders to assist in driving the development and implementation of value creating strategies
  • Prepare reports and presentations that document the analysis and research that you have conducted
  • Recommend process improvements and new ideas in modelling markets
About You
You will ideally have qualifications a quantitative discipline and relevant experience in energy trading. Your proven ability to understand complex problems and design innovative solutions, as well as your advanced numerical skills and experience programming in R, Python, Matlab or SQL will set you up for success.
What you’ll bring to the table
  • A minimum of 3 years in energy and wholesale markets
  • Tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Science, Econometrics or similar
  • Advanced computer skills. SQL query writing is highly desirable
  • Highly autonomous with the ability to take initiative, influence and drive results
  • The ability to see linkages in apparently unrelated matters and develop creative problem solving approaches
  • Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
