About the Role

Based in Santos’ Brisbane office, this role would be overseeing various petroleum engineering aspects in the Roma & Scotia subsurface team, ensuring efficient and effective scope identification and subsurface evaluation of in-wellbore, stimulation and surveillance scopes in existing and new development wells. This is a key role in terms of opportunity generation, budget planning and execution.

Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS). Key responsibilities of the role include:
Conduct reservoir characterisation and performance analysis for reservoir management and identification of opportunities to optimise production and ultimate recovery from the assets.
Collaborate with drilling, completions and frac engineers to scope well intervention, surveillance, and stimulation opportunities, and manage the budget inputs and execution for the reservoir management enhancement opportunities.
Identify and implement techniques to improve well deliverability and production rates through stimulation, re-activation, and other methods.
Provide technical expertise and leadership in the evaluation, planning, design, and optimisation of Roma and Scotia reservoir management opportunities.
Contribute to the development of long-term field development plans, including well concepts and production forecasting.
Collaborate with Production Engineering on well repair economics, additional production enhancement potential, integrated field reviews and production capacity reviews.
Analyse production, reservoir, and well data to identify trends, evaluate operational performance, and make data-driven recommendations for asset optimisation.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including management, joint venture partners, and contractors, as required.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Provide subsurface operational support where required.
Contribute to delivering cost reduction efficiencies and value creation strategies.
Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA) and the Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.

About You

We are seeking for professionals with experienced in:
Extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.
Demonstrated experience in technical disciplines, including petroleum engineering, completions, production, or reservoir engineering.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Proven self-starter and self-guided, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with key stakeholders.

Desired experience for this position includes:
Experience and understanding of Coal Seam Gas reservoir management and hydraulic fracturing knowledge would be advantageous.
Spotfire proficiency
Experience in PTA/RTA and PROSPER

Ideally, you will be degree qualified in the relevant engineering discipline or demonstrate significant training and experience within directly relevant role(s), within large corporate environments.
