General Description:
The Social Media and Content Manager is responsible for advancing PLUโ€™s brand and raising the visibility of the work, service, and impact of PLU faculty, students, and key strategic initiatives through the strategic management of the universityโ€™s social media accounts and development of digital content. This role is critical to enhancing PLUโ€™s institutional identity, reputation, and goals in enrollment, fundraising, and community engagement.

The Social Media & Content Manager is a dynamic storyteller with a passion for social media and developing highly engaging content. Reports to Director of Communications and works closely with fellow members of the content team, as well as the creative and web teams that, along with the content team, comprise PLU Marketing and Communications. Also works with staff and faculty members within University Relations, Admission, and across campus.

This position may be hybrid, with up to two days per week worked remotely.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Create highly engaging, dynamic content (including but not limited to written stories, videos, and podcasts) for a variety of media and audiences.
Conceptualize and produce dynamic content, including partnering with internal and contracted media producers like videographers, freelance writers, and web designers.
Plan and execute paid and organic social media strategy across key channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and LinkedIn, in support of brand and business objectives.
Assist in writing and editing online news, and write the majority of social media copy, maintaining brand voice, feel, and tone.
Manage social media projects with stakeholders across campus (Admission, Constituent Engagement, Advancement, Continuing Education, etc.) and serve as a social media advisor to offices across campus.
Assist the Director of Communications with media relations by preparing press releases and pitching stories to local media members.
Grow and moderate PLUโ€™s social media community, managing all responses to comments and queries in a timely and engaging manner.
Serve a key role in monitoring campaigns and reporting back to leadership via crisis-communication plans.
Identify and cultivate PLUโ€™s online following by proposing new, innovative social media campaigns, initiatives, and platforms to deepen connections with target audiences.
Work with the Assistant Director of Customer Intelligence and Analytics to measure and report social media and digital content key performance indicators.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of tracking social media advertising campaigns.
The ability to work effectively and efficiently in a deadline-driven environment, both independently and as part of a team.

Required Qualifications:
4 years of experience managing social media accounts, content development, marketing and communications, or community relations for a business, nonprofit, or agency. Education can substitute for some experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelorโ€™s degree.
A working understanding of social media and marketing analytics and metrics.
A passion for higher education and the Pacific Northwest.
