Manager – Social Strategy

Option to work under a 19-day month arrangement

About the role
As the Manager of Social Strategy you will lead a small team in the strategy development, support implementation planning and drive the evaluation of the City of Sydney’s activities to proactively address the wellbeing and resilience of the city’s communities and respond to key social issues and challenges. You will take a leadership role in ensuring that all aspects of the City for All social sustainability policy and action plan are delivered, measured and evaluated in a systematic and integrated way across the organisation while providing expert advice to the Executive Manager, Executive and Council. You will also be required to integrate content with other strategic areas across the organisation including cultural, economic, transport, land-use planning, sustainability and design.

You will also have a major role in engaging and advocating at a strategic and policy level with State and Federal governments and ensuring that the City’s interests are well represented in dealings with business, professional and community groups.

What we are looking for
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • High level experience dealing with contemporary social sustainability, social planning and housing issues
  • Be accomplished in developing and delivering comprehensive social strategic planning and community consultation processes, in or with government.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of long-term strategic influences, risks and opportunities affecting capital cities combined with strong research, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in effectively managing staff to ensure the highest quality of advice and outputs, as well as relevant tertiary qualifications, are essential.

  • This is a permanent fulltime role offering between $175,994 – $197,600 + super depending on relevant skills and experience.
