Job Purpose:

The job holder will work, with the minimum of supervision, on creating (2D/3D) innovative interior designs on all aspects of current and future vehicle platforms. The individual will have experience in both concept generation and production program delivery.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Support the Design Team with the generation of/presentation of innovative 2D Concepts (Sketches/Renderings/Photoshop/Illustrator and other proprietary Graphic Software).
Work with a team of Clay modellers to develop (iteratively) 2D concepts into 3D design theme properties for design reviews/presentations.
Mature chosen design theme model through Engineering Feasibility process to Job1 conclusion.
Understand and work within the established regime of the mission.
Liaise with Tier 1/Tier 2/other suppliers to deliver world-class products.
Work as a part of a highly motivated & committed team to deliver projects on time/on budget.
Apply Craftsmanship best practices.
Carry out special projects, as directed by management.
Keep abreast of Design/Colour and Materials/Technical/Other Trends developments within automotive/other industries.
Identify and implement processes/technologies to aid future AML Design Studio development.
Research, identify and communicate key attributes of AML products.
Identify and benchmark relevant competitors, encouraging awareness of trends inside and outside the automotive industry.
Plan and prioritise design studio resources and workload, within AML mission framework.
Identify Time/money/resource efficiencies/savings.
Intrinsic design values – Proportion, stance and surface.
Perceived Quality – Fit and finish, gaps and flanges.
Promote synergy between departments (Engineering/Manufacturing/Brand Communication).
An awareness of AML business goals to ensure delivery of projects on time and on budget.
Generate innovative 2D and 3D design solutions.
Direct Math Modelling, Clay Modelling, Engineering and Colour and Materials to develop world-class solutions.
Support Key Gateways and Studio Reviews.
Oversee the manufacture of design through the product development process.
Liaise and direct Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers

Qualification & Experience:

Educated to Degree level/equivalent within a design-related discipline.
7 years minimum experience in automotive/relevant industry.
Ability to use some/all mentioned software packages.
Understanding of design process within automotive sectors, show car/production car experience.
Highly articulate 2D sketcher/Illustrator.
Able to guide 3D digital/Physical model development.
Able to deliver creative Interior proposals /solutions.
Ability to work collaboratively alongside other Designers/Digital/Physical Modellers/Engineers.
