Job Description

Director, Corporate Communications The Director, Corporate Communications will lead the communications function for Trisura including media relations, social media, employee communications, thought leadership, and executive communications. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing and Communications, this role will develop integrated strategies that tell the Trisura story both internally and externally and will be instrumental in further evolving the brand narrative for Trisura. The Director, Corporate Communications will partner with various stakeholders including lines of business, underwriting, sales, regional teams, and claims. The Director, Corporate Communications will also be a hands-on leader who can provide counsel to the Executive Leadership Team, manage media relations, lead employee communications, and develop compelling thought leadership and social media strategies. In addition, the Director should be a strong writer and communicator, who can not only set strategy – but roll up their sleeves and help tell the Trisura story directly. Key Responsibilities Lead the execution of the internal communications channel strategy, which will include Intranet site development, digital signage network, in-person or virtual employee meetings, the enterprise email platform, and other internal communications vehicles Working with the public relations outside agency, develop media relations strategies for Line of Business/region/industry, train spokespeople, build relationships with local or trade reporters and coordinate interviews. Seek to actively position Trisura as a leading firm through the media in Line of Business or region. Provide advice and counsel to the executive and senior leadership team on all matters related to strategic communications and reputation management. Lead executive communications, strategically positioning top executives as thought leaders in their respective areas of expertise. Lead employee communications, including managing regular town halls, as well as supporting the Executive Leadership Team in engaging and inspiring employees. Lead the overall social media strategy, growing the Trisura presence on Twitter and LinkedIn. Write and edit corporate communication materials, including; press releases, press kits, video scripts, executive speeches and internet/intranet materials to enhance corporate reputation. Develop and maintain strong relationships with teams and leaders across the company, responding to their needs while balancing organizational priorities. Develop compelling external content for region/Line of Business/industry, including whitepapers, byline articles and other thought leadership. Assist with development/maintenance of content for firm’s web pages in assigned areas. Manage external consultants and public relations agencies Works to achieve goals while overcoming obstacles and/or planning for contingencies. Qualifications: 10+ years of leadership experience in corporate communications, media relations and crisis communications. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or related field Appropriate experience in progressively responsible communications positions including managing change communications projects Superior written and oral communication skills including demonstrated writing and editing skills Excellent business and industry awareness, staying current on trends that impact the business. Experience in a complex, issues driven organization Ability to influence, argue a case for support Understanding of the wide variety of channels available for communicating with all stakeholders, including internal social media, and a sense of the advantages and disadvantages of each Superior project management, organizational and budget management skills Strong relationship management skills Results driven; motivated by a high sense of performance excellence and urgency Proven ability to collaborate, and work well with a range of people across the organization Exceptional PowerPoint skills Excellent business and industry awareness, staying current on trends that impact the business. Experience in a complex, issues driven organization.
