Black Star Pastry is thriving and we’re looking for qualified Pastry Chefs to join our team in the Cake section of our Moore Park Production Kitchen at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter.

The Role

We have a great Full-Time opportunity suited to a Pastry Chefs with at least 2 year’s experience who will have the opportunity to craft our iconic cakes and develop your skills as a Pastry Chef working with an amazing team! Our kitchen is led by our Kitchen Management team, who are approachable, kind and love mentoring others!

Our shifts times are between 5am-5pm depending on the section you work in. We require 7 days availability, however we are all about work-life balance! We would love to get to know you and how we can make your Roster work for you.

About You

  • Previous experience in a Pastry Chef role.
  • Fully understand how the role contributes to the success of the store including a focus on quality control and operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain a good level of understanding of the restaurant and hospitality industry.
  • Build effective and constructive relationships.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally and concisely, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to changing business demands.

Our Business

Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008 and since then we have grown into an institution with stores across Sydney – Newtown, Rosebery, Sydney CBD and Moore Park as well as three stores in Melbourne!

We are most famous for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake which has become a social media sensation, with the New York Times declaring it “the world’s most instagrammed cake.”
