About the role

We are seeking a senior health care leader to join the Calvary team in the role of General Manager at our Calvary Launceston Private Hospitals.

Reporting to the Victoria/Tasmania Regional CEO, you will bring to the role significant experience in strategic and operational management in an acute health care facility, with strong stakeholder engagement, financial management and business acumen.

As the General Manager, you will be accountable for the strategic and operational planning, delivery and management of Calvary Launceston Private Hospitals, including delivery of the Calvary strategic intent.

As a strong people leader you will build a high performing leadership team, who fosters and develops an engaged workforce and positive culture. You are an innovative thinker with a continuous improvement mindset, and a focus on growth and sustainability.

Accountable for the operational performance, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of services, ensuring that they are client and outcome focused, financially sustainable and operating with the highest quality standards.

It’s an exciting time for Calvary Launceston, with work currently underway with the Tasmanian Government on the capital development of a new co-located Calvary Launceston Private Hospital to a site adjacent to the Launceston General Hospital. This is a unique opportunity for both Calvary and the community in Tasmania to advance care across both the private and public sector. The General Manager of Calvary Launceston Private Hospitals will play a pivotal role in the continued progress of this proposal in conjunction with the Regional CEO and the Calvary National Development Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to represent Calvary in Launceston and drive our healthcare service offerings to meet the needs of the local community.

About you

Tertiary qualifications, preferably post graduate, in management, business, health or related field;

A strong commitment to the philosophy and mission of Calvary and ability to work within and promote the national strategic direction and corporate vision of Calvary.

Proven high-level leadership and operational management experience, preferably gained in the management of an acute health care service.

Experience in managing complex relationships, in particular developing effective culture and engagement, inspiring commitment and developing capacity.

A strong commercial focus, together with proven high-level business development skills and experience, strong financial management skills and business acumen within the health and community care context.

Ability to foster and develop strong relationships with Visiting Medical Practitioners

The ability to design, lead, implement and evaluate significant change processes for effective outcomes.

Experience in overseeing the management of local service contracts.

Exposure to developing and managing public sector partnerships.

A demonstrated awareness and understanding of the current and likely future environment in which the service operates, including the political context.
