We are looking for an intermediate Sustainability Analyst to join our Sustainability team within the Building Specialty Services group. In this role, you will manage projects, work directly with clients, and work with a team of junior sustainability analysts related to the pursuit of sustainable buildings. Sustainable building work may include LEED BD&C, LEED EBOM, LEED ID&C, Zero Carbon Building certifications, One Planet Living, WELL, BOMA BeST, etc. Experience with Life Cycle Assessment and Embodied Carbon is an asset. You will be involved in sustainable or “green” building initiatives for existing and new building projects and will work with internal and external building design specialties.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a project team to develop a project-appropriate sustainability strategy and energy conservation measures
  • Lead the approach to achieve various Green Building certifications (LEED, WELL, BOMA BEST, Green Globes, ZCB)
  • Evaluating and tracking sustainability measures implemented on projects
  • Communicate sustainability requirements and obligations to client staff, architects, engineers, contractors, industry representatives and construction trades
  • Peer review internally and externally developed submittals for submission to the “green” building certification body (e.g., CaGBC, BOMA, etc.)
  • Write proposals and establish financial budgets
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and document discussions
  • Project management of internal sustainability projects
  • Accountable for the technical quality and accuracy of work performed
  • Works without close supervision, with high expectations for accuracy, adequacy, and conformance with guidelines and procedures
  • Participate in continuing education
  • Periodic out-of-province travel
Qualifications:
  • Degree and/or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field
  • Registration either as a Professional Engineer, Certified Technologist, or Registered Architect is a plus
  • Minimum 4 years experience in work relating to green building
  • An understanding of the role of different building systems and a broad understanding of sustainability issues
  • LEED Accredited Professional in one or more rating systems is required
  • WELL AP is a strong asset
  • Some training of knowledge in a field complementary to green buildings is an asset (e.g., energy modeling, building science/durability, daylighting, etc.)
  • Training or experience in Life Cycle Assessment is an asset
  • Passion towards sustainability
  • Strong work ethic
  • Organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks on multiple projects are a critical requirement.
