We are looking for a Principal Analyst (Performance Management) to join our Planning and Analytics team. You’ll be a hands-on leader, managing a small team of nine analysts to develop and provide crucial insights and reports for Managing Directors and General Managers, along with recommendations for performance improvement and strategy.

Reporting to the Manager Planning and Analytics and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Integrated Operations Division, you will be:

Using your analytical mindset and skills to analyse data on supply chain performance, identify trends and understand the system bottleneck(s), providing explanations for deviations from planned performance, risk to future performance and identifying opportunities for improvement focus
Engaging and networking with a wide range of stakeholders from across the business to understand local insights and context
Provide guidance and coaching to develop the analytical capability of the Analysts within the team
Collaborating with the broader RTIO and Rio Tinto teams to develop best practice analytics
What you’ll bring

Ability to analyse and distil complex information into clear and actionable insights for Senior Leaders
Experience working with large, complex data sets
A background in Mining/Ports/Rail/Processing and an understanding of the RTIO Value Chain from Mine to Market
Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
Ability to think and solve problems independently
Ability to deliver key role requirements autonomously or as part of a team
A talent for working with various analytical tools to translate raw data into information
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and prioritise work tasks
Experience in driving change and change management
In addition, the successful candidate will have a passion for continuous improvement, innovation and technical excellence
It will also be beneficial if you have:

Experience using data analytics packages e.g. Power BI/Spotfire/Tableau;
Experience with programming languages e.g. SQL and python

Where you’ll be working

This role will be primarily based at our Perth Operations Centre premises, however there will be a requirement to be located at our Central Park Office for various meetings and engagements with stakeholders.
