The role
As a product-led company, we are obsessed with delivering business outcomes
by understanding and solving real problems for our customers. We are looking
for an experienced and ambitious Product Manager to helps us redefine how we
support customers.
You’ll own our Operations Experience squad, defining, building, and continuously
improving our Operations platform. Operations sit at the heart of our business
and create amazing experiences for our customers on a daily basis.
You will be working hand-in-hand with the team to redefine the experience for our advisors
and fundamentally change the way we support our customers. By deeply
understanding their needs, you will build features our advisors and customers
love, continuously improving and iterating based on feedback. We believe that
the people closest to the problem, are the best to solve it, so you will create and
own the product strategy and roadmap for Operations Experience.

We are looking for someone who wants to

    • Become the subject matter expert by developing a deep understanding of our customers and their needs
    • Focus on outcomes over outputs so that a problem we are solving for customers translates into business results you’re proud of
    • Perform discovery, gather customer insights through interviews and user testing, and transform them into product features
    • Influence the overall product vision and drive decision-making through written recommendations for contentious issues
    • Set stretch goals for the squad, and track your progress against them whilst choosing progress and learnings over perfection
    • Manage the product backlog and communicate prioritisation, scope, complexity, and expected business value to stakeholders
    • Communicate the vision and value of new product features internally and externally, and build messaging that sets us apart
    • Develop and cultivate rapport within the immediate team, with engineering and design, and across business functions

We would love you to

    • Be commercial and outward-facing, coupled with an inward-facing approach to getting things done – we’re looking for builders who understand the market and want to roll up their sleeves
    • Possess a strong track record and 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager, ideally within a B2B FinTech
    • Appreciate that product development is a journey that starts with an idea, many discussions, and early prototypes but often requires several iterations to achieve the right outcome
    • Enjoy performing market research to gain insight into customers’ needs and translate these into unique products and services
    • Understand the value of written communication – we believe that complex ideas and problems are best explained on “paper”
    • Have a keen eye for detail

Our story
OakNorth Bank was built on the foundations of frustrations with old-school banking. In 2005, when our founders tried to get capital for their data analytics company, the computer said ‘no’. Unfortunately, all major banks in the UK were using the same computer – and it was broken.
Why was it so difficult for a profitable business with impressive cashflow, retained clients, and clear commercial success to get a loan?
The industry was backward-looking and too focused on historic financials, rather than future potential.
