VIDRL is a leading Australian infectious diseases public health laboratory located in the Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, that provides the Victorian Department of Health with public health laboratory services in virology, bacteriology, mycobacteriology and parasitology, including surveillance, outbreak investigations, reference testing, test development and research. VIDRL also performs diagnostic testing, mainly in virology, for hospitals, private pathology laboratories and sexual health clinics. In addition to Victorian laboratories, VIDRL regularly receives samples from Royal Hobart Hospital and Northern Tasmania Pathology Services, South Australia Pathology, Royal Darwin Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital, and less frequently from New South Wales.
Your new role:
  • Ensure overall effective and efficient operations of VIDRLโ€™s laboratory service
  • Participate in planning, continuous service improvement, business continuity planning, outbreak response
  • Efficient recruitment and workforce planning to ensure ongoing workforce development, training, career pathway development, troubleshooting and succession planning to meet VIDRLโ€™s service requirements as Victoriaโ€™s largest public health Laboratory & KPIs
  • Provide contract management/procurement and business planning
  • Provide supervision and support in workplace health, safety and wellbeing
About you:
  • You have experience in operational and continuous service improvement
  • Broad understanding of laboratory management, OHS and project management
  • You have effective communication skills and a passion for continued professional development.
  • Experience in procurement, business planning and contract management
  • Understanding of human resource principles
