Seeking an experienced Technical Writer
This is a fixed-term opportunity until 30/06/2025
Attractive VPS 5 salary between $ 105,479 – $ 127,621 + 10.5% superannuation

What does the business unit do?

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria. Technology Solutions explores and employs modern technology to serve the department’s business needs. The business unit is responsible for the department’s IT strategies, policies, projects, architecture, infrastructure, corporate systems and service management of IT suppliers.
Technology Solutions (TS) provides a range of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) services for the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). The branch sets the strategic direction of ICT in alignment with the business direction. TS is responsible for ICT strategies, initiatives, architectures, policies, projects, applications and infrastructure services in a multi-sourced environment.

What will the role do?

The primary responsibility of the role is to support program leads with the development of technical documentation.
The secondary responsibility of the role is to perform librarian duties for the program. That is, ensuring the quality of documentation is produced to departmental standards and is otherwise fit for purpose, in accordance program deliverables and organised (stored) in a way that is intuitive for consumers to navigate
What skills should a Technical Writer have?

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

Solid experience working as a technical writer developing a range of ICT documentation on a large ICT project or programme of work. This may be as a writer or in another role that requires documentation skills and disciplines (e.g. a Business Analyst, Communications Officer).
Expert in using MS Office tools (Word, Powerpoint), solid experience with MS Sharepoint. Experience with Confluence preferred (but not required)
Some graphic design skills preferred
Experience working within a large ICT environment using processes that ensure control of documentation quality
Experience working within technology delivery teams or projects
