About the role

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our Network Planning team, within our Operations Division on a full-time, permanent basis as a Data Scientist.
This role responsible for contributing to the Analysis and Modelling portfolio in the Network Planning team, developing and implementing decision support tools to be used across Operations.
Reporting to the Principal – Analytics & Modelling and working closely with operational personnel in head office and regional areas, the key deliverables for the role are:
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data quality and methodologies for key operational metrics (KPIs) which measure supply performance;
  • Contribute to furthering knowledge about data driven insights, advanced analytics and potential value adding projects across the Operations department;
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop solutions based on complex and challenging ideas/problems;
  • Develop algorithmic models to provide analytical decision-making tools;
  • Improve the data sourcing and automation of internal and external data sets using ETL principles; and
  • Utilise and continually develop best practice principles in data analytics.
What you will bring to the role:
  • Relevant tertiary degree in computer science, data science, data analytics, environmental science, agricultural science, or associated discipline;
  • Minimum of 2 year’s experience in a quantitative and/or data analytical role;
  • Strong experience with quantitative modelling;
  • Strong Python programming experience;
  • Experience with a Python based web app framework (Flask, Django, Dash etc.);
  • Strong understanding of data ETL principles and data management including SQL/PostgreSQL;
  • Experience with Azure DevOps; and
  • Experience working with a Business Intelligence platform (Power BI/ Tableau etc.).
