As the IT Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall delivery of IT projects, including those that involve digital transformation and Smart Cities initiatives (ex. Digital Equity, Living Labs, partnerships and regional collaboration). The IT Project Manager is responsible for leading projects from initiation to close, working extensively with internal business partners and sometimes, external parties to ensure their respective efforts are coordinated, balancing the constraints of time, quality and budget. Primary duties include:
  • Lead the development of project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables, including the work breakdown structure, timeline, resourcing, training, risk management and communication plans.
  • Coordinate meetings between internal and external interested parties.
  • Direct and manage projects by monitoring project team adherence to project plans, schedules and budgets and quality performance; resolves issues, conducts analysis and provides quality assurance checks on project deliverables.
  • Make recommendations to various interested parties on risks and mitigation solutions.
  • Determine resource requirements and participate in the hiring of staff resources.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities and provide direction to project team members, assigning responsibilities, ensuring completion of assigned duties and assessing the abilities and performance of team members.
  • Facilitate discussions with various sponsors and interested parties to determine project scope and objectives as well as resolve issues as they arise.
  • Prepare procurement, project related and technology driven documents for various audiences.
  • Prepare and provide reporting or status updates and recommendations to various involved parties to ensure the success of the project.
  • Develop and promote change and transition initiatives related to the project.
  • Engage with various resources and teams within The City to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
Qualifications
  • A completed diploma in Business Administration or Information Technology and at least 10 years experience; OR
  • A degree in Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Math, Engineering, or Science and at least 8 years experience.
  • A project management certification such as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Certification (PMP), or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) will be considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in project management software (for example: Microsoft Project, Primavera, Ecosys or similar) and previous experience developing and implementing processes.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $44.20 – 59.09 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
